Opera.ini settings explained.

This document contains configuration option information for Opera version 5.x.

OPERA.INI is the "initialization" file, essentially a "preference manager", that specifies most of your user settings and preferences in Opera. This file is modified and saved automatically when you alter the browser settings via the Opera user interface. You can also edit this file manually.

You can open OPERA.INI with any text editor, and make any of the following modifications. It is best to do changes while Opera is not running. After you've made any changes, save the file and re-start Opera. We recommend that a user-customized version of OPERA.INI be stored in the Opera directory, because Opera looks first there for this file. (This is important for those who want to run several versions of Opera with different settings, or sets of different settings for the same version.)

But by default, Opera installs OPERA.INI to the Opera directory on the drive that Windows was started from. On Linux, in ~/.opera/OPERA.INI. It does not matter which drive that you install Opera to, and it does not have to be a local drive. If you boot from the net, OPERA.INI will not be on a local drive, even if Opera is installed on it.
